Still Doing Loy Website Overhaul

As you may or may not have noticed, this current update to the Loy website is the most extensive I've made since its 1997 creation. I think this project is going to take at least another week, to have everything running smoothly. So please be patient, especially when you click on a link that goes to another part of my site, only to get an error message. I'm still moving pages into newly created directories on the web server and many of the links have yet to be updated.

For this reason, I've also removed the search box from the main page, as it will need to be updated as well. (I have to put all the search info in manually, so it may be the last to be reinstated.) The main page still needs tweaked so column layering will be constant. But I decided the other (easier) pages should be revised first and finish the main page later so at least all the links will be in order.

As you'll notice, I incorporated more Javascript links to open in new, smaller windows from the main home page. The smaller windows will make navigation much easier.

Eventually I plan on adding more images of old documents pertaining to the Martin Loy (to America 1741) line, such as copies of original wills, land records, marriage records, death records, war records, etc.

But first...to finish the update...

Is it just Safari?

After nearly all day working on it, I finally revamped the Loy site main page with a better layout. However, after uploading to the Rootsweb server, the page has some problems viewing through my Safari (Mac) browser. The webhost ad keeps lodging between the second and third column of my page, making the scroll right very long.

Yet, I found it works great in my Firefox and Opera browsers. Since IE hasn't made a Mac version for umpteen years, give or take an ump, I haven't been able to check that out yet. I don't know if it's something "buggish" in Safari, or if it can be fixed by more troubleshooting.

There are lots more pages I have to go back to reformat, update links, etc. So keep watching!

I'm Back!!

Yes, I know I've neglected the blog and site updates for awhile. Actually, I *have* been updating the site time to time, but the title homepage doesn't show new "updated date/time" unless main entry page itself is updated.

Instead of new material, right now I've been mostly reformatting pages for easier access, improving typeset for easier reading, etc. Some links to pages once "hidden" in obscure places, I've now given a second link from more obvious places. So those pages might seem "new" to you. My next project will be improving the layout of the old photos pages. For example, though it looks fine in some browsers, others show the images in single columns instead of 3, making it a bear to have to keep scrolling down.
